Petite Summer Style Guide - The Power of a Great Shirt and Cropped Fit
At 5'2", I’ve spent years trying to figure out how to dress in a way that flatters my petite frame
Lately, I’ve realized that the key often lies in proportion and nothing works better than cropped and fitted pieces

Cropped tops hit just right to visually lengthen the legs, while fitted shirts and pants help define the waist without overwhelming a smaller frame
High-waisted jeans paired with a cropped tee or a tailored blazer with fitted trousers are game-changers
This can also be understood better by The Rule of Thirds
Using Rule of Thirds
The Rule of Thirds is a design principle that breaks a look (or photo) into thirds to create balance and visual harmony
Instead of cutting my body in half (which can make me look shorter), I’ve been trying to build outfits that follow a 1/3 to 2/3 ratio. For example, pairing a cropped top (1/3) with high-waisted pants or a midi skirt (2/3)

Another recent discovery – the power of a great shirt!
Lightweight, slightly oversized button-downs (ie. linen or cotton poplin) have become my go-to.
I wear them tied at the waist over dresses, half-tucked into shorts, or even open over a fitted tank
They add structure without bulk, and when styled right, they instantly elevate the outfit effortlessly while still looking polished
I used to always feel awkward bc of my height but I’m loving the new found confidence!
